Legislative Agenda & Legislative Advocacy Committee |
The NASW-MA Legislative Advocacy Committee (LAC) serves as the backbone and the advisory board to all our legislative work. The Committee is open to any interested NASW member – you don’t need political experience or expertise, you’ll learn! LAC’s first job is to choose policies and bills every two years to focus on in the legislative session. This forms the Legislative Agenda for the Chapter. LAC members follow bills, come to the State House for hearings and lobby meetings when they can, and often stay in contact with their legislators to make sure our bills don’t fall through any cracks. LAC’s second job is to advise and help with Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD) held each spring around Social Work Month. Nearly 800 social work students and professionals descend on the State House for LEAD – the largest lobby day on Beacon Hill. JOIN US! All NASW members are welcome to join the Legislative Advocacy Committee. Please contact the chapter office at chapter.naswma@socialworkers.org or (617) 227-9635.
